The Division on Addiction seeks to identify sponsors interested in funding The BASIS to offset our technology, operations, and faculty and staff costs.
What is The BASIS? The BASIS is the Division on Addiction’s on-line journal, self-help toolkit, and addiction resource website. The primary goal of The BASIS is to provide the public with direct access to the latest scientific information and resources related to addiction – free of charge and at their convenience.
The BASIS provides access to innovative editorials, addiction self-help tools (e.g., the Your First Step to Change series), and addiction resources (e.g., brief screens). Each week, The BASIS provides one of four science reviews:
- Addiction Smoking Health Education Service (ASHES) explores issues related to tobacco use and abuse.
- The Drinking Report for Addiction Medicine (The DRAM) reviews research related to alcohol use.
- Science Threads on Addiction, Substance use, and Health (STASH) investigates substance use and abuse.
- The Worldwide Addiction Gambling Educational Report (The WAGER) reviews gambling-related research.
Why is The BASIS important? Too often clinical and scientific resources are accessible only to academics or are available at prices that are unaffordable to individuals in-need. Our primary goal is to provide free direct access to the latest scientific information and resources related to addiction. In addition, we intend The BASIS to increase interest in scientific literacy.
How can I help support The BASIS? Organizations can choose to support the entire BASIS or an individual science review (i.e., ASHES, The DRAM, STASH, or The WAGER). Click here to download a description of Organizational Sponsorship opportunities, along with contact information for moving forward.
