Ketamine (street name “Special K”) is an anesthetic drug that some people use recreationally at sub- anesthetic doses to induce a dissociative state. Notably, some research suggests that intravenous ketamine provides rapid relief from depressive symptoms among people with major depressive disorder (MDD).
